Today we received the World Vision catalog in the mail and Isaac saw it. He was quite excited to see what we could "buy" for others. As we went through the catalog together he finally chose to purchase 2 chickens for $25 to send to another little boy. He also wanted to write a note that says...
Der lidl boy,
Wr goien to the store to giv u a shchicken. (I love that he sounded this out all by himself).
Translated....Dear little boy, we are going to the store to give you a chicken.
It's so hard for him to understand that we'll simply be sending money to purchase chickens and that we will not be getting the chickens and mailing them. He thinks that these chickens are going to the child we sponsor and have talked about. Isaac has $14 already and will need $11 more. Instead of just giving the money to him, we want him to take ownership of his giving and sacrifice to give others. We have made a chart that will allow him to earn stickers which will equal $1. I think this will be a great lesson to him on giving all he has to someone else who has nothing. Praying for the Lord to continue to nurture his giving spirit and teach him that giving is always better than receiving.
